THE WOMAN I DIDN’T DESERVE

She is the one,
the one who turns sweet to sharp,
soft to steel.
She is the one who knows
how to make a successful deal.

She is the one who keeps the children close,
their plates always full,
their world transformed
by stories and laughter,
making life easy and warm.

The kind who fights
and forgives in the same breath.
Her genuine love
is something you never forget.

So many times
I was the one who let her down,
giving her disappointment
instead of a crown.

I spoke the wrong words.
I could see she was in pain.
But because she is my mother,
I always hoped
for forgiveness again.

This time came silence—
not from anger,
not from shock.
She simply gave up
trying to talk.

Her cold look and silence
never belonged in this house. She is strong.
Not for the first time,
I knew
I was wrong.

Instead of following
her gentle and simple way,
I chose my father’s path
lost my own and turned her away .

A mother like her
I don’t deserve.
She is the only one
in my universe.
